These books just keep getting better. As much as I enjoyed books 1 and 2, I enjoyed books 3, and now 4, even more. Hayden is your typical stubborn warrior and Isla is just as headstrong but together they complement each other and are a perfect match. Hayden hates all droughs (druids who have given themselves to the devil and black magic) and has sworn to kill them. Isla, of course, is a drough, although not by choice. They are a romance novel "match made in heaven".

This book brings back all of our favorite warriors and equally strong druid women, many of whom play prominent roles in this book which is a good thing, as I love the comeraderie between them. The story picks up right where the last one ended. This is one of those series that you really need to read in order, otherwise you miss a lot, not only in the relationships between the characters but also in the main plot which continues from book to book.

If you've enjoyed the other books in this series, you will love this one! If you haven't read this series but enjoy such series as Gena Showalter's "Lords of the Underworld" or J.R. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood", you will likely enjoy this one too (though, fair warning, there are no vampires involved).

Hayden and Isla's story was amazing. I am finding that these books get better as we go.

I wasn't sure how I'd like their story. But Donna Grant really does an excellent job of putting them together. They are two tortured souls coming together and learning to trust.

Hayden hates Droughs and has hated them since losing his family. Finding Isla hurt, Hayden is immediately protective, unknowing that she's a Drough. Once Hayden finds out that she's a Drough, we go through all of his struggles in accepting and trying to get passed his hatred of Drough. Meanwhile Isla also has to go through her own struggles and her inner battle with both herself and with Deidre.

One thing I love about this series is how not only does Donna bring back all of our past favorite Warriors and Druids, but they play a prominent role in the story. Even though most of the warriors are not blood related, with the exception of the MacLeod brothers and Ian and Duncan, the closeness that's in the castle is like a family and stays that way throughout all of the books.

Donna Grant did it again. Everything I enjoy in her books. Romance, action and emotions. Such a great series.
Thinking they had finally rid the world of the great evilness that was Deirdre, Warriors Hayden Campbell and Fallon MacLeod are searching the area around Cairn Toul looking for survivors of the last battle. It seems to be a lost cause when Hayden comes upon a grievously wounded young woman. Determined to save this woman that he feels a compelling attraction to, Hayden brings her to the MacLeod castle for healing. It is there that Hayden discovers his foundling is none other than Isla, the Drough that aided Deirdre in capturing Warriors and Druids to be tortured, killed or turned to Deirdre's underlings. Hayden despises Droughs and has sworn an oath to kill as many as he comes across. It was a Drough that wiped out his entire family. He should have left her on the mountain to die, but the MacLeods and their friends are determined to save Isla and possibly bring her to their side. Hayden is torn, he wants the little Drough but she is his hated enemy.

This is one of my favorite Highlander series, although they don't all wear kilts, the heroes in this series are all possessed by ancient gods and have the ability to transform into these fearsome beings. Mmmm. Hayden is extra special because he's a big blonde with a brogue. Yum, but he's also really damaged and has a HUGE prejudice against Drough druids. Perhaps somewhat justified, but it presents a major stumbling block for his fledgling feelings for Isla. (for some strange reason I'm very alliterative today) I had problems developing sympathy for Isla. She has done some truly tremendously terrible things under the aegis of her captor and master Deirdre. Yes, she had reasons and she regretted her actions, but still, I'm talking Hitleresque horrible. (I'm sorry, I can't turn it off). Luckily the other warriors and their women are much more tolerant than Hayden and myself, offering their friendship and protection. As with all things, I'm about balance and redemption. Redemption can only be had when a like and just payment has been proffered. I just couldn't wrap my head around how one poor druid could make recompense for such heinous acts. She does her best, though and by the end, I was pulling for her.

Hayden was a sneaky warrior in his story. He thought he could act all cold and aloof towards Isla during the day and then pop in for a little bedtime snack. I cry foul on that. Bad Highlander, bad! Either you forgive her or you don't, no taksies backsies! I take these warriors and their ongoing tales very personally because I've followed the series since it's inception, and when one of them acts poorly, I feel it is my duty to rap a knuckle or two. New avenues for the continuation of this wonderfully romantic and addictive series continue to pop up through each book. I'm really, REALLY needing for someone to put the final smackdown on Deirdre and her nasty little yellow minions. If you haven't started this series yet, you are missing out on some really good reading material. I just love these warriors and their chosen mates, I bet you will too.

Begun reading Untamed Highlander the same day as I finished Wicked Highlander... I could not stop myself! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Hayden Campbell and Isla, the From Hayden saving Isla on Cairn Toul all the way [ to them falling in love ] at the end. Hayden, having his entire family killed by a drough and his vow to find and kill the drough that did it did not warm up to Isla very easily at all. [ And then to find out that even though they thought Dierdre was dead and now learn she's not! ] My heart hit my stomach!! I was so afraid that Hayden's pride was going to get the best of him. [ I was VERY surprised to learn that Isla WAS the drough that had killed Hayden's family. I cried, thinking that Hayden might change his mind about his feelings... ()] However, Donna has not disappointed me at all here! She keeps on surprising me at every swipe of my . I have already jumped into Shadow Highlander and am excitedly wanting to see where this series takes us to! [ I really am hoping that Dierdre gets killed soon.... but then I am hoping that her death doesn't make things worse for these men.. ] Also, wondering if we are going to get to see Marcail's baby in these series' or are they going to fade out...? so many questions....
